Women’s health needs are different across the lifespan. It’s important to take this into account when caring for women of different ages. To help you stay healthy and promote wellness we will ask you to fill out a comprehensive history that assesses your nutritional status, physical activity, use of supplements and medications and spiritual life. We put all of this information together with your medical history to make personalized recommendations that fit your individual lifestyle and help you stay healthy.  And we have special programs to help women achieve post-pregnancy weight loss goals.

While the life-expectancy gap between men and women has decreased, it's no secret that men still need to pay more attention to their bodies. Several things work against men. They tend to smoke and drink more than women. They don't seek medical help as often as women. Some men define themselves by their work, which can add to stress.

There are also health conditions that only affect men, such as prostate cancer and low testosterone. Many of the major health risks that men face - like colon cancer or heart disease - can be prevented and treated with early diagnosis. Screening tests can find diseases early, when they are easier to treat. Our providers work with you to make lifestyle changes to improve your health status including changes  in diet, exercise as well as weight loss management.

Senior Health

One in eight Americans is now age 65 or older. By the year 2030, this is expected to increase to one in every five Americans. The entire senior population is projected to double to 65 million by the year 2030, when seniors will account for 22 percent of the population.

About a third (36%) of seniors are obese, which puts them at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, some types of cancer, sleep apnea and many other debilitating and chronic illnesses. Recent projections suggest that 42% may end up obese by 2030 if something isn't done to reverse the trend.

The Montere Bay Center for Integrated Health provides Seniors with annual “Wellness” visits to develop a personalized plan to reduce risks for chronic conditions with diabetes screening, body composition analysis (bone mass measurement), obesity screening and counseling, medical nutritional therapy, prostate cancer screenings and annual flu shots.
